DIRECTV: Goodbye Weather Channel

20-million DirecTV customers will have to stick their heads out the window today to see what the weather is. The satellite provider dropped The Weather Channel this morning right after midnight over a contract dispute.

The Weather Channel says it is asking DirecTV for an increase in what it pays to air the channel in order to "continue to invest in the science and technology that enables us to keep people safe, deliver the world’s best weather, and tell weather stories to help people be prepared and informed." The Weather Channel CEO David Kenny says that hopes of reaching an agreement are not looking very good.
