Get ready to bundle up! The 200-year-old Farmer’s Almanac says we’re in for a bitterly cold winter, with below-average temperatures in two-thirds of the country. The almanac adds that the coming winter could bring a blizzard to the first outdoor Super Bowl in years.
Managing Editor Sandi Duncan says, “We’re using a very strong four-letter word to describe this winter, which is C-O-L-D.” Predictions are based on the same analysis of sunspots and tidal action since the first almanac was published in 1818. Forecasts are claimed to be correct 80 percent of the time. (Time)
